Johnny Appleseed

Despite the unexpected snowstorm this weekend, my girlfriends and I were hellbent on getting our annual apple orchard excursion in before the picking season ended. We bundled up, and drove a few hours upstate to Highland, NY to pick the forbidden fruit at Wilklow Orchards. Despite having to slosh through the snow, it was a fabulous day filled with laughing, confessions, stories and a few too many cider doughnuts - all of which leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. We left a few snow angels behind, and walked away ten times as many apples. I'm already anxious for Thanksgiving to arrive so I can put them to use for my tried and true Mexican Apple Pie.
