Sake Sangria

With Stephen out of town, Chewy and I decided to invite the ladies over for an evening of girly drinks, chit-chat and sweets. I am a huge fan of Sangria, and go out of my way to order it whenever I'm out and about during the summer. Being a complete amateur, I recently received a bottle of Gekkeikan Sake and Plum wine as a gift, and had no idea what to make of it - I'm no connoisseur of Japanese spirits, but was dying to try them out. When the girls arrived, we whipped up a batch of "Sake Sangria" - which quite possibly might be my new summer wine cooler staple. On a side note, I highly recommend stopping by and picking up some adorable Ice Cube shapes - they are an instant drink sprucer-upper. Enjoy ladies!

{empty glasses = sad faces}

  • 28 oz Gekkeikan Sake
  • 14 oz Gekkeikan Kobai Plum Wine
  • 2 oz Club Soda
  • 2 Peaches
  • 2 Plums
  • 1 cup of Ice Cubes
  1. Cube the peaches and plums, and place in a large pitcher.
  2. Using a long spoon, macerate fruit.
  3. Pour ice cubes into the pitcher, then add remaining liquid ingredients.
  4. Stir until well blended and enjoy!

{more than one glass might induce spontaneous s'mores making}

  1. Fantastic!!! You are making me want to send Lukus out of town so that I can have a girls' night!

  2. Ooh that looks like my kind of night!! xx

    Best night ever!

  4. ooh! Sounds delish!!

  5. Instead of using club soda you can also use Gekkeikan Sake Zipang. This sake is naturally carbonated and is a great alternative to club soda or even Champaign.

  6. that is a fabulous idea - I had tried it on its own and it was delicious and mild, and would make a delicious substitution!
