With less than 3 weeks to go til R-Day, the anticipation has left my tummy in knots! Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise it happened sooner rather than later, but I caught a cold from Stephen and have been off the training wagon for almost a week. I'm hoping I'll be able to jump back on the horse and get my 20-miler in before the 2 week mark.
My family and friends have been a great diversion from the constant training stress. My Uncle Scott, a seasoned IronMan and Marathon vet, called me last week to congratulate me on my 10 mile practice race and offered some great pre-marathon tips. It's refreshing to hear that the frustration and anxiety that amounts during training is only something to be expected - now I just want to get everything over with! My friend Sydney and her husband Kramer hosted a Oscar's Party this past weekend. It was a great crowd of friends, with amazing food (she's a food blogger = undercover Julia Childs), and lots of movies and red carpet looks to discuss. Needless to say it was a great escape from training mode!
While my marathon countdown persists - I will continue to embrace my never-back-out outlook on life. Hopefully my sniffles will subside so I can apply this new stance to this upcoming weekend! 18 days and 12 hours til gun time, but who is counting?
