Christmas Countdown

Did you know the average person gains 5-10 lbs between Thanksgiving and New Years? My trainer informed me of this yesterday, and it left me second guessing all those extra treats I've been indulging in at work. It's so hard, with all the holiday finger foods, who can resist chocolate chip cookies and cheesy popcorn? While I can't promise I won't sneak the occasional cookie, I can say that I will have to work extra hard to not fall victim to the statistics. While jack frost nipping at your nose can make it hard to be motivated to get outside and get the blood flowing, I've found a few fun festive activities to keep away the Santa tummy.

Last week Stephen surprised me and took me Ice Skating in Bryant Park! It was both a romantic and rather aerobic outing, as ice skating gives your legs QUITE the work out. My muscles were so sore, I even had difficulty walking the next day! Almost every town from here to California has an Ice Rink - so I recommend you bring your favorite loved one along and lace up your skates - you won't be disappointed!

I'm really looking forward to heading home next week. While I'm not adventurous enough to hit the slopes when I visit Colorado, living in the Big Apple has left me yearning for wide open spaces to Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe across in the winter. I've already made my parents promise to have my skis waxed so I can trot around the ranch in my Rossignols!

Don't forget to get out there and show jack frost who is boss! Whether it be on the ice rink, ski slopes, or snowy plain for us less adventurous folk - don't fall victim to the 10lb holiday gut!
