Alright, I'm a bit ashamed to say it, but I've been all talk about this LA Marathon, and had yet to register! After much procrastination, and a new pair of running kicks from Santa Claus, I finally bit the bullet and reserved my spot for the 2011 LA Marathon... I'm anxiously awaiting my return to Mecca, and can't think of a better way to revisit all of my old haunts.
On that note, I recently finished Born to Run by Chris McDougall - what a great way to motivate me for my New Year's training. After all this wonderful food and R&R at home in Colorado, it'll be quite difficult to get back into the swing of things, but his memoir of his time with the Tarahumara people really helped put some motivational pep into my strides. While I'm not ready to jump onto the Vibram Five Finger bandwagon just yet - despite my Uncle Scott's raving - I was lucky enough to visit the Boulder Running Company for some new lightweight Brooks shoes courtesy of Mom and Dad, it's as close to the barefoot running club as I'll get for the time being.
As I approach crunch time for race training, I have to bid adieu to my diet of Christmas Cookies, Holiday Ham and Au Gratin Potatoes, and learn to embrace brown rice, steamed veggies and dried fruits once again - but that's what New Years is all about, resolutions, right? So hear is to the close to a great year, and the beginning of a new Lindsey - making the first check mark on that Bucket List... fingers crossed :-)
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night - I'm hitting the road for a Christmas Run in Franktown :-)
